10 Steps To Create A Collection On OpenSea

Before you can create an NFT on OpenSea you first have to create a collection (Step 4 in the 5 Steps to Create Your First NFT).

This guide walks you through 10 specific steps to create a collection on OpenSea. Its very straightforward but I thought I would provide an example where I went through the process myself to create a collection.

Let’s dive in.

Step 1

Once you select Create Collection on OpenSea your first step will be to upload a logo image. Here I just use my main logo to maintain my branding. I can go back anytime and change it to give the collection an on brand unique logo.

You have the option to upload a featured image of one of the NFTs you will be creating. You also have the option to add a banner much like you would for your a website, Twitter, etc.

Step 3

Give your collection a name.

Next customize the URL for your collection. Here I used the name of the collection with a hyphen.

Describe your collection. In this case I provided a really simple a description.

Choose a category. Here I chose art. Your other options are music, trading cards, collectibles, sports or utility.

Add your key links. For me this is just this website and my twitter.

Step 8

This is one of the great things about NFTs that should excite artists. That is the ability to set a royalty. This means you can collect a portion of the sales proceeds every time your art trades in the secondary market. Here is where you can set that royalty. I set mine at 10%.

Step 9

There are only two choices on OpenSea for which blockchain you want to create your NFT on. The default is Ethereum. The alternative is Polygon. I will discuss Polygon later in more detail. For now I’m selecting Ethereum. The blockchain will determine which tokens can be used to transact with your NFT.

The last step is to select your display theme. Here I chose the default. Also, note if you are doing NSFW art you need to toggle on that the collection contains explicit or sensitive content. Now you are done and you can click Create.
