NFTs are all the rage these days selling for thousands if not millions of dollars.
This post is your guide to create your first NFT. It’s the first in a series that will help you get up and running selling NFTs.

Step 1: Get A Crypto Wallet
Before you can create your first NFT you need to get a digital wallet. Metamask works with all the Ethereum decentralized applications (Dapps). Metamask works as a browser add-in or as an app on your phone. With Metamask you will be creating an ethereum address to send and receive ETH. You can create multiple addresses. Just keep enough ETH in your wallet to do business, i.e. pay gas fees. If you accumulate a lot of ETH you should move it to a hardware wallet for greater security.
Step 2: Fund Your Crypto Wallet
Next you will need to fund your digital wallet. Metamask gives you a couple of options. You can use Apple Pay with a debit card or you can use the Transak service to buy with either a credit card or debit card. Otherwise you will want to use a central exchange like Coinbase or Gemini to buy ETH and transfer it to your Metamask account.
Step 3: Create An OpenSea Account
Now you need to create an OpenSea account. OpenSea is one of the oldest and largest NFT marketplaces. Its a good place to start creating and selling NFTs. Navigate to OpenSea and click on Create. You will then be asked to link to your Metamask account. Once you are linked you can customize your profile information including your profile pic, username, bio, and email address. Now you are ready to get started.
Step 4: Create A Collection On OpenSea
Before you can create your first NFT on OpenSea you have to first create a Collection. When creating a Collection think about how you want to organize your future NFTs for sale. You can organize by type or theme for example. If you were a photographer you might have one collection for photos and one for videos. Alternatively if you were a photographer might organize between landscapes and seascapes.
Step 5: Create Your First NFT
Once you have created a collection on OpenSea you can create your first NFT. You do this by adding an item to the collection you created in the previous step. You then upload your digital file and add the metadata. The default blockchain for your NFT will be Ethereum. Since OpenSea is a marketplace you can also mint your NFTs through other services and import them into your collection on OpenSea for sale.
